Hiking in a Winter Wonderland

All I wanted this holiday season was to see some snow. The holidays came and went, and still no snow. Not only was there no snow, but it was so WARM! I was so confused as to which season we were in this past December.

On the morning of New Year's Eve (Dec. 31st), my friends and I took a drive upstate to Lake Minnewaska. As we drive up the mountain, the temperature drops. We go through a thick cloud of fog, and on the other side of the fog, there it was, SNOW! A beautiful blanket of white snow covered the grounds of the mountain. It was amazing! My heart jumped with joy. There was a smile on my face! The weather was perfect for a hike. The sun came out and there was just a slight chill in the air.

My friends and I climbed up the mountain, through the snow and the mud. The hike was tiring, exhilarating, and rewarding. When we reached the top, we could see from miles and miles into the distance. It was a great way to end 2015 and begin a new year!
