SGTG's Mary Poppins

Flat Stanley and I saw SGTG's Mary Poppins in Bellerose NY this weekend. This Disney musical opened on Broadway maybe 5 years ago, and closed in the year 2013. The muscial is based on Disney's film version of Mary Poppins. There are some differences between the two including the addition of songs and different supporting characters/ensemble roles.

The message of the story remains the same. It reminds the audience to slow down in life and enjoy time with family and those you love. George Banks, the father of the main family, becomes so preoccupied with work, precision, and order, he forgets to spend time with his children. His children miss him dearly and want to find a way to spend time with him. Mary Poppins comes in to show the family how to balance work and family time by turning everyday events in to games and lessons.

I am good friends with a lot of the cast and crew at SGTG. Everyone was happy to meet Stanley and to take pictures with him. Below you will see some pictures of Stanley with the cast and crew.

We had a lot of fun together. Stanley thought Mary Poppins and Bert were amazing! Stanely loved it when Bert stood on his head and tap danced in "Step in Time." Mary Poppins sounded beautiful when she sang the song, "Feed the Birds". I liked the part when Mary, Bert, Jane, and Michael went to the talking shop to buy letter,s words, and conversation! We had a great time!
