Stanley and Shakespeare in the Park Bayside NY

Flat Stanley and I begin our adventures together in our own backyard. It is amazing what you can find for free in New York. Tonight we walked along the Bayside Marina, walked into Crocheron Park, and sat and watched the play The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare. It was performed by the Hip to Hip Theater Company. They perform Shakespeare plays in parks all over Queens, New York for FREE.

I love William Shakespeare! I love his plays and his poetry. He can paint vivid imagery with just a few words. William Shakespeare was an actor, playwright and poet in the late 1500s to early 1600s. He was born and raised in England and that he where he performed most of his plays. Some of his most famous plays are Romeo &Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Shekeapeare's plays were performed in an open theater called The Globe Theater.

It felt like a new experience watching a play outdoors. We watched the play surrounded by nature. A cool breeze went through our hair and bugs kept trying to bite at our legs. Stanley did not enjoy that part!
